Fitch: Middle East, Africa telecoms to grow

Fitch Ratings said in a special report that the Middle East and Africa telecommunications market is set to continue to grow in 2010, albeit at a slower pace.

High mobile penetration rates will keep growth prospects in the Middle East telecoms market limited in 2010, Fitch said.

Robust top-line growth will only be possible in selective markets in the mobile segment, the agency said.

The regulatory environment in the Middle East is still favorable despite growing competition in some markets, Fitch added, and the regulatory picture has traditionally moved forward slowly to ensure a smooth transition process.
