Pope & Talbot looks to hire Shinehouse as chief restructuring officer

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, April 3 - Pope & Talbot, Inc. requested court approval to hire Kroll Talbot Hughes, LLC's James P. Shinehouse as the chief restructuring officer for some of the company's debtors, according to a Wednesday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

Kroll Talbot Hughes will also provide other management services to the Pope & Talbot debtors.

According to the motion, Shinehouse's appointment will help the company "fill the gap" that will be left when its chief executive officer and chief financial officer take new positions at PT Pindo Deli Pulp and Paper Mills.

As previously reported, PT Pindo bought substantially all of the assets of Pope & Talbot's pulp business.

A hearing is scheduled for April 22.

Pope & Talbot, a Portland, Ore.-based pulp and wood products company, filed for bankruptcy on Nov. 19. Its Chapter 11 case number is 07-11738.
