Pliant requests 120-day exclusivity extension

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, May 1 - Pliant Corp. requested a 120-day extension to its exclusive periods to file a plan of reorganization and solicit votes on the plan, according to a Friday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

The company wants to extend its exclusive plan filing period to Sept. 1 from May 3 and the solicitation period to Oct. 30 from June 30.

The company said it has made substantial progress in its case, and has filed a plan of reorganization and related disclosure statement.

Pliant said the extension is necessary based on the size and complexity of its bankruptcy case.

A hearing is scheduled for May 15.

Pliant, a Schaumburg, Ill., producer of film and flexible packaging products, filed for bankruptcy on Jan. 3. Its Chapter 11 case number is 06-10001.
