Moody’s rates Northwestern Mutual notes Aa2

Moody’s Investors Service said it assigned an Aa2 (hyb) rating to Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co.’s planned sale of about $500 million of 40-year fixed rate surplus notes. The company may increase the size of the offering as part of an anticipated exchange for its existing surplus notes due 2040.

Proceeds are expected to be used for general corporate purposes.

The outlook is stable.
