Moody’s changes NTT outlook to negative

Moody’s Investors Service said it changed its outlook for Nippon Telegraph & Telephone Corp. and its subsidiary NTT Finance Corp. to negative from stable.

"The outlook change to negative is primarily driven by the increasing likelihood that NTT's strong appetite for growth investment will keep its leverage elevated over the coming one to two years," said Ryohei Nishio, a Moody's assistant vice president and analyst, in a press release.

"The negative outlook also reflects uncertainty regarding the degree of extraordinary support from the government, in light of potential revisions to the NTT law under discussion, when NTT's stand-alone credit quality weakens," added Nishio.

Concurrently, Moody’s affirmed the issuers’ ratings, including the A1 issuer and senior unsecured ratings.
