MSRB’s promotes Lawrence Sandor to chief compliance officer

Norfolk, Va., March 5 – The Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board announced the promotion of deputy general counsel Lawrence Sandor to the new position of chief compliance officer, according to a press release.

In his new position, Sandor will be responsible for managing the MSRB’s corporate governance, regulatory support, internal legal and compliance activities.

“Larry’s new, expanded role will more fully utilize his deep experience on compliance matters and support the continued maturation of the organization,” executive director Lynnette Kelly said in the release.

“In his six years at the MSRB, Larry has become the key point person on a number of important initiatives. Our market regulation team will continue to benefit from his knowledge and leadership.”

Sandor joined the MSRB in December 2008 and has held several positions, including associate general counsel and senior associate general counsel. He previously served as chief compliance officer of Wachovia Securities and Wachovia Securities Financial Network, and as general counsel of a regional broker-dealer.
