By Tali David

Minneapolis, June 12 - The Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board added Michael L. Post as deputy general counsel, according to a press release.

Post, who worked for more than 10 years at the Securities and Exchange Commission, will oversee all aspects of the MSRB's rulemaking activities.

He will report to general counsel Gary Goldsholle and deputy general counsel Lawrence Sandor.

"We are very excited to welcome Michael to the MSRB," executive director Lynnette Kelly said in the release. "His extensive background in and knowledge of financial market regulation will enhance the MSRB's mission to ensure a fair and efficient municipal market."

Post currently acts as senior litigation counsel in the appellate group of the SEC's Office of the General Counsel, the release said.

From 2007 to 2009, he was counsel to the chairman and assisted in the response to the financial crisis. He also advised the chairman on a wide range of legal and policy initiatives arising out of the Division of Enforcement and the Division of Trading and Markets, such as the improvement of disclosure for investors in municipal securities

Based in Alexandria, Va., the MSRB works to promote a fair and efficient municipal market for investors, issuers, other municipal entities and the public.
