Barclays plans three-year buffered notes linked to Asian currencies

By Toni Weeks

San Diego, June 17 - Barclays Bank plc plans to price notes due June 30, 2014 linked to a basket of Asian currencies, according to a 424B2 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The basket includes equal weights of the Chinese renminbi, the Malaysian ringgit and the Korean won.

If the basket appreciates relative to the U.S. dollar, the payout at maturity will be par plus the basket return. Investors will receive par if the basket declines by up to 10% and will lose 1% for every 1% decline beyond 10%.

The notes (Cusip: 06738KMD0) will price June 27 and settle June 30.

Barclays Capital Inc. will act as agent.
