Fitch changes Kinder Morgan view

Fitch Ratings said it affirmed the BBB- long-term issuer default rating and senior unsecured ratings on Kinder Morgan, Inc. and its wholly owned subsidiaries that are subject to guarantees between the companies.

The agency also affirmed the F3 short-term issuer default rating and commercial paper rating on the company.

The outlook was revised to positive from stable.

Fitch said the change in outlook reflects expectations that Kinder Morgan will continue to reduce leverage, and in the medium term manage to achieve leverage much closer to 4.5x on a sustained basis.

The agency said it believes that the company is focused on maintaining a stronger balance sheet and self-funding equity capital needs.
