Jefferies adds Charles Mather to lead PIPEs

By Susanna Moon

Chicago, June 6 - Jefferies & Co., Inc. hired Charles E. Mather as a managing director in the firm's equity capital markets group, according to a company press release.

Mather will lead the origination and execution of equity private placements and PIPE transactions.

He has more than 20 years of investment banking and asset management experience, and joins the company from Cowen and Co., where he was head of the private equity group.

"The addition of Charlie Mather will enhance our ability to provide origination and execution in the equity capital markets as part of our full-service investment banking platform," Timothy E. Monfort, head of equity capital markets at Jefferies, said in a written statement.

"His relationships in the private equity community and transaction experience will add immediate value to our equity capital markets effort," Monfort said.

Before joining Jefferies, Mather worked at Cowen 10 years, was group head of Smith Barney's private equity placement group and worked at subsidiaries of Prudential Investment Corp., where he focused on restructurings, leveraged buy-outs and high-yield private placements.

Mather has worked on transactions worth $7 billion over the course of his career. He has an AB from Brown University and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
