James River Coal posts $590,000 net loss for February on zero revenue

Pittsburgh, April 2 – James River Coal Co. reported a $590,000 operating loss for February on zero revenue, according to its monthly operating report filed April 2 with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

In January, James River posted a $1.3 million operating loss, also on zero revenue.

The net loss for February was $516,000, narrowing from a $1.22 million January net loss.

The company also had cash and cash equivalents of $7.94 million as of Feb. 28, up from $7.06 million at the end of January.

James River, a coal company based in Richmond, Va., filed for bankruptcy on April 7, 2014 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia under Chapter 11 case number 14-31848.
