Markit: U.S. leveraged loans index up 0.24% in Aug. 13 week

New York, Aug. 20 - The Markit iBoxx USD Leveraged Loans index was better by 0.24% in the week of Aug. 13, compared to a 0.26% gain in the week of Aug. 6, according to data from Markit Group Ltd.

The Markit iBoxx USD Liquid Leveraged Loans index was up 0.36%, versus a 0.32% rise in the previous week.

Year to date the Markit iBoxx USD Leveraged Loans index is up 6.46%, and the Markit iBoxx USD Liquid Leveraged Loans index is up 7.10%.

Average bids in North America for the week were 94.20, up from 94.13 in the prior week.

"Despite light volumes, loans continue to generate above-average returns for investors," said Otis Casey, director and loan market analyst at Markit.

"Liquid loans, in particular, have performed well and our Liquid Loans Index shows total returns over 7%," Casey added.
