Markit: U.S. leveraged loans index gains 0.18% in Oct. 8 week

New York, Oct. 15 - The Markit iBoxx USD Leveraged Loans index was better by 0.18% in the week of Oct. 8, and year-to-date the index is up 8.58%, according to data from Markit Group Ltd.

Also, the Markit iBoxx USD Liquid Leveraged Loans index was up 0.19% last week, for year-to-date gains of 9.65%.

Average bids in North America for the week were 94.83, up $0.20 from the prior week.

"With central banks committed to monetary stimulus for the foreseeable future, the chase for yield continues unabated," said Otis Casey, director and loan market analyst at Markit.

"The market regained momentum after a couple of choppy weeks and returns gauged by both of our indices hit new highs for the year," Casey added.
