Markit says U.S. leveraged loans index gains 0.13% in week of Nov. 7

New York, Nov. 14 - The Markit iBoxx USD Leveraged Loans index rose 0.13% for the week of Nov. 7, compared with a 0.08% decline during the week of Oct. 31, according to data from Markit Group Ltd.

Meanwhile, the Markit iBoxx USD Liquid Leveraged Loans index was up 0.04% last week, versus a 0.39% drop in the week of Oct. 31.

The year-to-date return of the iBoxx USD Leveraged Loans index is 1.02% and for the Liquid Leveraged Loans index is 0.52%.

The average bid in North America was 91.41, versus 91.28 in the week of Oct. 31.

"The secondary loan market, like other risk assets, saw some volatility last week," said Otis Casey, director and loan market analyst at Markit.

"Investors are sorting out the implications of Italy's debt woes and what leadership changes in Greece and Italy may mean for the euro," Casey added.
