Hughes Communications files automatic shelf registration

New York, Aug.8 - Hughes Communications, Inc. filed an automatic shelf registration in an S-3-ASR filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The registration covers common stock, preferred stock, warrants and debt securities. The securities may be convertible.

Proceeds will be used for working capital, acquisitions, capital expenditures and other general corporate purposes.

Germantown, Md.-based Hughes Communications operates through its wholly owned subsidiary, Hughes Network Systems, LLC, which is a telecommunications company.
