HSBC Holdings files automatic shelf registration for debt securities

Knoxville, Tenn., March 22 - HSBC Holdings plc filed an automatic shelf registration in an F-3 ASR filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The registration covers subordinated and senior debt securities, non-cumulative dollar-denominated preference shares and American Depositary Shares.

The securities may be structured as convertibles.

Proceeds will be used to support the development of HSBC and to strengthen further the capital base of HSBC Holdings.

HSBC is a London-based financial services company.
