Moody's: Hewlett-Packard unchanged

Moody's Investors Service said that Hewlett-Packard Co.'s A2 senior unsecured rating and prime-1 short term rating are not affected by the company's acquisition of 3Par for about $1.6 billion in cash.

The outlook is stable.

While the acquisition will provide the company with important data storage capabilities to build out its enterprise class storage offerings, the financial impact will be very modest given that 3Par's $198 million of revenue is less than half of one percent the size of Hewlett-Packard's, Moody's said.

Over the latest 12 months, 3Par generated revenue of $198 million and operating loss of nearly $3 million, the agency said. During the same period, Hewlett-Packard had $126 billion of revenue, $10.9 billion of operating profit and $8.4 billion of free cash flow, Moody's said.
