Former FTD seeks exclusivity extension to avoid competing plans

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Oct. 1 – GUE Liquidation Cos., Inc., formerly FTD Cos., Inc., requested an extension of its exclusive periods for filing and soliciting votes on a Chapter 11 plan, according to a motion filed Monday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

GUE is asking the court to extend its exclusive plan-filing period through Dec. 2 from Oct. 1 and the solicitation period through Jan. 31.

As previously reported, the company filed a plan of liquidation last month. If the current projected confirmation schedule holds, GUE said the plan confirmation hearing will be held on Dec. 18. If the plan is confirmed on that timeline, the company said it would be able to exit Chapter 11 by the end of the year.

“To allow the exclusive periods to lapse and permit parties to file competing plans would unnecessarily increase administrative expenses and cause delays to the resolution of the Chapter 11 cases (neither of

which the debtors or their stakeholders can afford in a liquidation process),” the motion said.

A hearing is scheduled for Oct. 23.

FTD is a floral wire service based in Downers Grove, Ill. The company filed bankruptcy on June 3 under Chapter 11 case number 19-11240.
