General Wireless secures exclusivity extension following plan filing

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Sept. 19 – General Wireless Operations Inc., which does business as RadioShack, obtained a second extension of its exclusive periods for filing and soliciting votes on a Chapter 11 plan, according to an order filed Tuesday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

Specifically, the company’s exclusive filing period was extended by 90 days through Dec. 4 and the solicitation period through Feb. 4.

As previously reported, General Wireless filed its plan of reorganization and related disclosure statement on Aug. 17. The disclosure statement was conditionally approved on Sept. 7, and the plan confirmation hearing is scheduled for Oct. 25.

“The debtors are actively pursuing confirmation of a proposed plan, which enjoys significant creditor support, and hope to emerge from Chapter 11 in the coming months,” the motion said.

However, absent the extensions, General Wireless said its exclusive periods would have expired on Sept. 5 and Nov. 4, respectively.

“This extension will allow the debtors to seek confirmation of the proposed plan at the combined hearing, including any adjournments, without the exclusive periods expiring,” the motion said.

General Wireless is a Fort Worth, Texas-based operator of neighborhood electronics convenience stores. The company filed bankruptcy on March 9, 2017. The Chapter 11 case number is 17-10506.
