Global Hunter hires Monte and Giamichael to expand China practice

Milwaukee, May 17 - Global Hunter Securities announced it hired Barney Monte and Joe Giamichael as managing directors as part of an expansion of its China sector practice.

Monte will lead the firm's China investment banking group, and Giamichael will lead China research. They will both be based in New York.

Monte will oversee a China investment banking team that will focus on registered direct offerings, secondary offerings and IPOs.

Monte most recently was head of the China investment banking group at Rodman & Renshaw. He was previously vice president of Akin Bay Co., advising clients on cross-border mergers and acquisitions in China. He was also was an analyst with HSBC Securities.

Prior to joining Global Hunter, Giamichael was director of research and senior China analyst at Rodman & Renshaw. Before that, he was managing director of CJS Securities, focusing on small cap companies in a number of sectors.

The new hires precede Global Hunter's inaugural 2010 China conference.

About 100 China-based companies, ranging in market capitalization from $50 million to more than $1 billion, will make presentations to roughly 250 U.S.-based institutional investors at the conference to be held July 11 through July 13 in San Francisco.
