Jon Pliner hired to manage Jefferies European credit trading platform

St. Louis, Aug. 20 - Jon Pliner joined Jefferies & Co. as a managing director and head of the European credit sales and trading business, according to a Thursday press release.

Pliner, who will be based in London, will manage Jefferies' European credit trading platform, which includes the sales and trading of investment-grade and high-yield bonds and loans. He will develop the firm's credit trading business in conjunction with the U.S.-based investment-grade and high-yield sales and trading teams to accelerate the development of Jefferies' global credit trading activity.

Pliner joins Jefferies from Merrill Lynch, where he was a managing director. In his 15 years at that firm, his roles within the credit trading group included head of flow credit trading and head of European emerging markets.

Meanwhile, Jefferies also announced Thursday that Kenton Jernigan will assume responsibility for sales across the European credit spectrum.

Jernigan will also be based in London.
