Fitch rates Detroit Edison notes A-

Fitch Ratings said it assigned a rating of A- to Detroit Edison Co.'s $250 million 6.4% senior notes, series J, due Oct. 1, 2013.

The outlook is stable.

Proceeds will be used to repay short-term debt and for general corporate purposes.

Ratings reflect the company's solid credit protection measures, stable operating performance, moderate leverage position, as well as the recent passage of constructive electric industry legislation in Michigan, the agency said.

For the 12 months ended June 30, the issuer's debt-to-EBITDA ratio was 3.2x.
