Detroit judge denies creditor request to reconsider plan confirmation

By Kali Hays

New York, Nov. 20 – City of Detroit creditor David Winegar received a denial of his motion asking the court to reconsider its order confirming the city’s plan of adjustment, according to a Nov. 19 order from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.

The court found that nothing included in the request warranted reconsideration of its confirmation order.

In a separate order, judge Steven Rhodes set a Nov. 24 deadline for any motion seeking a stay of the confirmation order pending an appeal.

As previously reported, judge Rhodes confirmed the city’s plan Nov. 7.

A hearing on all stay motions received by the deadline will be held Dec. 1.

Detroit filed for bankruptcy on July 18, 2013 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Michigan under Chapter 9 case number 13-53846.
