Moody's: Dell unaffected

Moody's Investors Service said that Dell Inc.'s proposed senior unsecured debt issuance will not affect the company's A2 long-term rating.

The outlook is stable.

The financing is for general corporate purposes.

Dell's "financial leverage is unlikely to increase beyond a range consistent with the current rating as a result of the proposed debt issuance," Moody's Richard Lane said in a statement.

Dell's rating remains supported by its solid debt protection measures, strong overall liquidity, low financial risk and a strong position in the global PC and server markets, the agency said.

A key factor influencing the A2 rating over time will be the company's ability to maintain its competitive position, the agency noted.
