Delaware Investments names new co-manager, adds 15 to fixed-income team

By Angela McDaniels

Seattle, May 23 - Delaware Investments said it added Thomas H. Chow as a co-manager of Delaware Investments Global Dividend and Income Fund, Inc. and the Delaware Investments Dividend and Income Fund, Inc., effective Thursday.

He will primarily be responsible for managing the high-yield fixed income holdings of the two funds, according to a company news release.

Chow is a senior vice president and senior portfolio manager and a member of the firm's taxable fixed income portfolio management team, with primary responsibility for portfolio construction and strategic asset allocation. His experience includes exposure to asset liability management strategies and credit risk opportunities.

Prior to joining Delaware Investments in 2001, he was a trader of high-grade and high-yield securities and was involved in the portfolio management of collateralized bond obligations and insurance portfolios at SunAmerica/AIG from 1997 to 2001 and was an analyst, trader and portfolio manager at Conseco Capital Management from 1989 to 1997.

Chow received a bachelor's degree in business analysis from Indiana University, and he is a chartered financial analyst and a fellow at the Life Management Institute.

Delaware also hired Gregg Gola as a vice president and senior high-yield trader.

Gola was previously at Morgan Stanley Investment Management, Miller, Anderson and Sherrerd in Conshohocken, Pa., where he was executive director - fixed income. His responsibilities included managing as part of the corporate credit team both institutional and retail high yield portfolios and trading domestic and European high yield, distressed credit and credit default swaps.

Wayne Anglace joined Delaware Investments as a vice president and research analyst focusing on corporate bonds in the chemicals, paper and packaging sectors and convertible bonds.

Anglace previously worked in fixed income research for Gartmore Global Investments, Deutsche Bank Alex. Brown and Ashbridge Investment Management.

Additional hires

Delaware Investments also announced the addition of 15 fixed income investment professionals including portfolio managers, research analysts and traders.

The new team members include Roger A. Early and Victor Mostrowski, portfolio managers; Brian Hamlet, senior corporate bond trader; and Maggie Chwaleba, Craig C. Dembek, Annika Eiremo, John W. Kenefic, David J. Hamilton, David Harmelin, Chungwei Hsia, John P. McCarthy, Aaron W. Smith, and Michael G. Wildstein, research analysts.

They are all based in Philadelphia.

In connection with these new additions, Delaware Investments said it is restructuring the management teams of certain funds, effective May 24.

This restructuring does not affect the management of any fixed income institutional separate accounts or municipal bond portfolios or funds, the company noted.

"Although we are restructuring the management of fixed income funds, the overall philosophies and processes will remain consistent," Patrick P. Coyne, president of Delaware Investments, said in the release.

As previously announced, Delaware Investments is engaged in discussions with Logan Circle Partners, LP about a possible transaction involving some members of the taxable fixed income group and related institutional business. Those discussions are ongoing.

Delaware Investments is a Philadelphia-based diversified asset management firm and an affiliate of Lincoln Financial Group.
