Dannemora Magnetit crushing injunction postponed; appeal withdrawn

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Jan. 31 - Dannemora Magnetit AB's injunction requiring it to cease main above-ground crushing activities at the Dannemora iron ore mine will now take effect on Dec. 31, 2015, pushed back from Aug. 1, 2015, according to a news release.

As previously reported, preparations for an underground crushing facility have been carried out but are not yet finished. The County Administrative Board issued the original injunction in December, combined with a conditional administrative fine of SEK 20 million.

The company appealed the injunction on Dec. 20. However, since the effective date has been postponed, Dannemora said it can abide by the injunction. As a result, the appeal was withdrawn.

According to the release, moving the crushing activities underground are in line with Dannemora Magnetit's plans and are part of a previously announced investment package, for which the company is seeking long-term financing.

Dannemora Magnetit is a subsidiary of Dannemora Mineral AB, an iron ore producer based in Danderyd, Sweden.
