Chesapeake Energy seeks 90-day extension of excusive plan periods

By Sarah Lizee

Olympia, Wash., Sept. 28 – Chesapeake Energy Corp. is seeking a 90-day extension of its exclusive periods to file and solicit votes on a Chapter 11 plan, according to a motion filed Friday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas.

Specifically, Chesapeake Energy is asking for the court to extend the plan filing period through Jan. 25 and the solicitation period through March 25.

The debtors said the extension would allow them to focus on operating their business in the ordinary course, advance the Mid-Con asset sale process and continue engaging with the creditors’ committee on its investigation.

Chesapeake is an Oklahoma City-based oil and natural gas company. The company filed bankruptcy on June 28 under Chapter 11 case number 20-33233.
