Champion Enterprises exclusivity extended pending rescheduled hearing

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, April 21 - Champion Enterprises, Inc.'s exclusivity extension hearing has been postponed to May 13 from April 22, according to a Tuesday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

As a result, the company's exclusive period to file a plan of reorganization has been extended through the conclusion of the hearing and the exclusive plan vote solicitation period to 60 days after the hearing.

As previously reported, Champion wants to extend its exclusive filing period to July 13 from March 15 and the solicitation period to Sept. 11, 2010 from May 14.

"The debtors have made significant progress in the Chapter 11 cases; however, significant tasks lie ahead and certain contingencies remain, warranting an extension of the exclusive periods," the motion said.

Champion, a Troy, Mich.-based producer of manufactured and modular homes, as well as modular buildings for government and commercial applications, filed for bankruptcy on Nov. 15, 2009. The Chapter 11 case number is 09-14019.
