Compal prices $300 million 0% convertibles

New York, Aug. 15 - Compal Electronics, Inc. priced $300 million of five-year zero-coupon convertible bonds.

The convertibles, priced after the close Friday, came to market with a conversion price of NT$38.40, a premium of 15% over the average closing stock price for the five days ending Friday.

Compal, a Taipei, Taiwan, maker of laptop computers and other computer products, will use proceeds for offshore purchases of raw materials.

The convertibles were sold under Regulation S.
