Community Health buys back $60.5 million 8 7/8% notes due 2015 in quarter to March 31

New York, April 29 - Community Health Systems, Inc. repurchased on the open market and canceled $60.5 million of its 8 7/8% senior notes due 2015, according to a 10-Q filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The transactions took place during the three months ended March 31.

The company said that this resulted in a net gain from early extinguishment of debt of $2.4 million with an after-tax impact of $1.5 million.

Community Health is a hospital chain operator based in Franklin, Tenn.
