Bouchard Transportation asks court for second exclusivity extension

By Sarah Lizee

Olympia, Wash., April 8 – Bouchard Transportation Co., Inc. is seeking a second extension of its exclusive periods to file and solicit votes on a Chapter 11 plan, according to a motion filed Wednesday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas.

Specifically, the company asked the court to extend the plan filing period through June 25 and the solicitation period through Aug. 24.

“The requested extension would ensure continued runway to address key operational items, allow the debtors and their advisors to negotiate with contract counterparties for the use of certain vessels, facilitate negotiations with stakeholders on remaining issues, and maximize the value of the business and creditor recoveries, all while avoiding the disruptive effects of competing Chapter 11 plans,” the company said in its motion.

A hearing is scheduled for April 28.

Bouchard Transportation is an ocean-going petroleum barge company based in Melville, N.Y. The company filed bankruptcy on Sept. 28, 2020 under Chapter 11 case number 20-34682.
