BMO names Weiss head of U.S. leveraged finance distribution, trading

By Susanna Moon

Chicago, Jan. 13 - BMO Capital Markets said it appointed David Weiss as managing director and head of U.S. leveraged finance distribution and trading, based in New York.

Weiss will be responsible for building BMO Capital Markets' sales and trading of U.S. leveraged loans and bonds, which is an important growth area for the firm, according to a company press release. He is a 25-year Wall Street veteran.

Weiss will work closely with Colleen Campbell and Jim Moglia in BMO's leveraged finance and debt capital markets group, the company said.

Weiss built and managed high-yield and leveraged finance distribution teams throughout his career, according to the release. He worked for 14 years at JPMorgan Chase & Co. where, as a producing manager, he oversaw the firm's high-yield sales team. Most recently, he was with a New York-based independent firm where he established its high-yield sales, trading and research efforts. He is a graduate of the State University of New York.

BMO Capital Markets said it has hired more than 350 people worldwide in the past year. It is the investment and corporate banking arm of BMO Financial Group in Toronto.
