Berkline/BenchCraft gets extension for filing its reorganization plan

By Jim Witters

Wilmington, Del., Sept. 22 - Berkline/BenchCraft LLC received court approval to extend its exclusive period for filing a reorganization plan, according to documents filed Thursday in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

The extension moves the deadline for filing a plan to Oct. 28 and extends the period for soliciting votes on that plan to Dec. 26.

In requesting the extension, the debtors stated they needed more time to sell assets and complete the wind-down process.

Berkline/BenchCraft, a Morristown, Tenn.-based designer, innovator and manufacturer of residential upholstered furniture, filed for bankruptcy on May 2. The Chapter 11 case number is 11-11369.
