Berkline/BenchCraft seeks third extension of exclusive plan periods

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Dec. 28 - Berkline/BenchCraft Holdings, LLC is seeking a third extension to its exclusive periods for filing and soliciting votes on a plan of reorganization, according to a Dec. 28 filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

The company wants to extend its exclusive filing period to Feb. 27 from Dec. 28 and the solicitation period to April 27 from Feb. 27.

According to the motion, the second exclusivity extension did not give Berkline/BenchCraft enough time to fully complete its wind-down and monetization processes.

The company said it is not in the best interest of its estates to let exclusivity lapse until these processes are finalized.

A hearing is scheduled for Jan. 24.

Berkline/BenchCraft, a Morristown, Tenn.-based designer, innovator and manufacturer of residential upholstered furniture, filed for bankruptcy on May 2, 2011. The Chapter 11 case number is 11-11369.
