S&P lowers Bank Negara view to stable

Standard & Poor's said it revised its outlook on the long-term local currency ratings on PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk to stable from positive.

At the same time, the foreign and local currency ratings on the bank (B+/stable/B) are affirmed, the agency said, noting that the outlook revision reflects the challenges the bank faces in improving its key fundamentals, in particular its loan quality and revenue growth.

S&P added that the ratings on Bank Negara continue to be underpinned by the bank's satisfactory capitalization, its still-strong franchise as the third-largest bank in the domestic banking system with a market share of 10% to 11% of system assets and deposits.
