Moody’s alters Peru bank view to negative

Moody’s Investors Service said it revised the outlook on three Peruvian banks and their branches to negative from stable and affirmed their ratings.

The banks are Banco de Credito del Peru, Banco Internacional del Peru SA, Banco Internacional del Peru (Interbank) and Fondo Mivivienda SA.

“The rating action follows the outlook change to negative, from stable, on the government of Peru's Baa1 ratings and reflects Moody's view that social and political risks have intensified, threatening, over the next few years, a deterioration in institutional cohesion, governability, policy effectiveness and economic strength through successive governments,” Moody’s said in a press release.
