Aventine Renewable Energy asks court to approve exclusivity extension

Charlotte, N.C., March 4 - Aventine Renewable Energy, Inc. is seeking an extension to its exclusive periods to file a plan of reorganization and solicit votes on the plan, according to a Thursday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.
The company wants to extend its exclusive plan-filing period to May 3 from March 4 and the solicitation period to July 2 from May 3.
A hearing is scheduled for April 21.
As previously reported, Aventine expects to emerge from Chapter 11 bankruptcy on March 15.
The company's plan of reorganization was confirmed on Feb. 24.
Aventine, a Pekin, Ill.-based producer and marketer of fuel-grade ethanol, filed for bankruptcy on April 7, 2009. Its Chapter 11 case number is 09-11214.
