Special master: Argentina bondholder lawyer improperly announced deal

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Feb. 24 – The special master for the settlement negotiations between the Republic of Argentina and its bondholders said a bondholder’s lawyer improperly made a statement Wednesday that an agreement in principle had been reached between NML and Argentina.

According to a release from court-appointed special master Daniel A. Pollack, the lawyer’s statement “violated the confidentiality of the discussions between the parties, which is an inviolable principle of all negotiations through me as special master.”

Pollack said he will announce any signed agreements in principle arising from the negotiations.
