Argentina’s new administration to hold bondholder settlement talks

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Dec. 9 – The Republic of Argentina’s new administration intends to begin settlement negotiations with bondholders after it is sworn into office, according to a release from Daniel A. Pollack, the court-appointed special master presiding over settlement negotiations in the Argentina debt litigation.

Pollack said he met with incoming Argentina secretary of finance Luis Caputo earlier this week to introduce himself. Pollack also met last week with representatives for the holders of $10 billion of judgments against Argentina. No negotiations to resolve the outstanding debt litigation occurred in either meeting, the release said.

The new administration was scheduled to be sworn in on Dec. 10. Pollack said no specific date has been set for the settlement negotiations.
