S&P upgrades Aon

Standard & Poor's said it raised the long-term corporate credit rating on Aon plc to A- from BBB+, along with the rating on Aon Corp. to A- from BBB+.

The agency also said it removed the corporate credit rating from under observation, where it was placed Nov. 20.

The outlook is stable.

The agency also said it raised the senior unsecured debt rating to A- from BBB+. The A-2 commercial paper rating is unchanged.

The upgrade reflects the application of the revised corporate ratings criteria, S&P said.

The financial risk profile benefits from ratio changes related to its surplus cash on the balance sheet, the agency said.
