Plaintiffs appeal AMR merger settlement approval, stay denial orders

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Dec. 5 - A group of private lawsuit plaintiffs appealed two orders related to AMR Corp.'s merger with US Airways Group, Inc., according to a Thursday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.

Specifically, the plaintiffs, led by Carolyn Fjord, appealed the order and related memorandum of decision approving AMR and US Airways' merger settlement with the Department of Justice, as well as an order denying the plaintiffs' motion for a stay of the merger pending the outcome of their appeal.

AMR Corp., the Fort Worth-based parent of American Airlines, filed for bankruptcy on Nov. 29, 2011. Its Chapter 11 case number is 11-15463.
