S&P: Amerisource notes A-

Standard & Poor's said it assigned an A- rating on AmerisourceBergen Corp.'s proposed 10-year senior unsecured notes offering in an amount up to $500 million.

The notes will rank equally with the company's existing and future unsecured and unsubordinated indebtedness, S&P said.

The proceeds will be used for general corporate purposes.

The agency said it believes the post-transaction credit metrics support the company's existing A- corporate credit rating and the stable outlook.

The rating reflects the company's satisfactory business risk profile and modest financial risk profile, S&P said.

The rating also considers the company's important position as one of the three largest drug distributors, diversified customer and supplier mixes, strong liquidity and high barriers to entry, the agency said.
