Moody's affirms AmBank

Moody's Investors Service said it affirmed the following ratings of AmBank Bhd.: D bank financial strength rating, which maps to a Ba2 baseline credit assessment; and Baa2/P-3 foreign currency long-term/short-term deposit ratings.

At the same time, the agency said it revised the outlook on AmBank's D bank financial strength rating to positive from stable.

The outlook on its deposit ratings remains stable.

Moody's said the revision in the outlook on AmBank's bank financial strength rating reflects the improvements in the bank's credit profile brought about by management efforts to enhance the bank's risk profile. In particular, the bank's asset quality and liquidity have showed consistent improvements over the past four years, according to the agency.
